The Enthronement of
Dr. Rowan Williams

as Archbishop of Canterbury

I feel that I must write to acknowledge the fact that I had the pleasure of receiving the one ticket allocated to our parish to attend the Enthronement of Dr. Rowan Williams as Archbishop of Canterbury.

I was so happy to know that I had been picked ‘out of the hat’ last November. Ever since then I have collected several press cuttings, a book of the Archbishop’s poems, the ‘Writings in the Dust’ conveying his thoughts of the 11th of September. The Archbishop was in New York at the time of the never to be forgotten incident.

I have a list of his choice of music broadcast on ‘Desert Island Discs’. Dr. Williams enjoys the music of Bach.

The ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral on the 27th of February was beautiful and I shall remember it so well. I had a good viewpoint. I also attended the Diocesan Service of welcome Eucharist on the afternoon of Sunday the 2nd March which I again found very moving. I shook hands with dr. Williams and I obtained his signature on my copy of the Order of Service thus:- + Rowan Canteur.

I told him I had some of his books - he raised those lovely burly eyebrows of his and gave me a lovely smile!
